Oil | Water

I had some free time today so pulled out the camera, a macro lens, a tripod, some water, soap, oil, several glasses, a glass sheet, a desk lamp and a book cover. This is the result. Also on 500px.

Photo Challenge: Faceless Portrait

Faceless portraits of a baker (my wife), an occasional musician (moi), and a hairy muppet (the older Sprout). I am not entirely happy with the results, but it did put the camera in my hands and made me think a little creatively. I had hoped to include a finished loaf of bread (a before and after), but the daylight disappeared into night, so no available light by the time the bread had baked (it was delish, though!). The piano hands shot is not focused where I want it to be, either. Oh well. At least the oldest Sprout was patient enough for a silly photo op.

[oil and water]

[oil and water]

Recipe:

Glass of cold water sitting atop egg holders; couple of drops of dish detergent (prevents the bubbles from merging for a while); under the egg holders coloured paper; a light shining on the paper; camera on tripod...

..oh, and oil for oil drops, of course.

On the Table

On the Table

Last real day of holidays, spending quality time with my family, especially my son (he's learning to play chess), drinking good coffee, and enjoying moments of quiet reading (yes, those are my reading glasses - showing my age).

Also on 500px.

Businessman

It was a half day workday for me so I was able to meet the Sprouts at the bus stop.

The younger Sprout stepped off the bus, shouting, "Papa, my Spymaster kit came today!" He had, with his own money, purchased the kit through a Scholastic order. He proudly carried it home, looking like a businessman coming home after a successful day at work.
